The SmaCom Trade team attended the first Trend&Hedge Club offline meeting since the start of the war in Ukraine to have an opportunity to listen and discuss the 22/23 drying season with agro market players.
Last year, which was characterized by high prices for natural gas, already made it clear to farmers and participants in the market of agricultural products that it is necessary to have an alternative in elevators and dryers, so we, as suppliers of natural gas, are not surprised by the general trend to replace gas with pellets, propane/butane, etc.
The main message of the Head of SmaCom Gas, Andriy Zerechenskyi, is as follows: currently we can see how the world market is adapting to the natural gas resource without the participation of russia, we can see how fast logistics can be adjusted and how regulators adjusted to new sources of supply - so there are high chances that for the next agro season the prices can be normalized. Definitely, we shouldn’t give up natural gas, but for sure we need to think about an alternative resources.
In general, the mood of our farmers is inspiring. There are absolutely no plans to stop the activity, and the number of non-standard and creative decisions is impressed.
